Joseph "Joe" Cassata
Funeral service for Joseph (Joe) John Cassata, 82, Daytona Beach who passed away Tuesday will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave Holly Hill with Reverend Rob Cassata officiating. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Joe was born in New Jersey and moved to this area in 1954. He grew up in the family pottery business and ultimately took over "Tony's Pottery" in Daytona for many years. He later managed Nevada Bobs Golf shop which was a perfect position because of his passion for playing and watching the game of golf. Joe won the City Champion's multiple times and played in a match with ledgends Jack Nicklaus and Doug Sanders. He was especially proud of the hole in one he shot which won him a new car. In his spare time, he was a coach and referee for T ball and little league, enjoyed watching basketball and traveling. Joe's love for his family and people always showed in the way he made everyone feel at ease when he was around. The family will never forget their memories together and especially of eating mom's "grandma's" cooking and "eating until it hurt." He was predeceased by his companion Marty. Survivors include two sons, Robert Anthony Cassata (Nancy) and Joseph John Cassata, Jr. and their mother Kathryn Cassata; a grandson, Mario Cassata; two brothers, Robert Carl Cassata (Joyce) and Anthony (Tony) John Cassata, Jr. (Sheila); two step children, Ryan Erisman and Brandie Erisman; two step grandchildren, Ryan Jr. and Rylee; and many other family members.
